Food portions

According to dieticians  a portion of vegetables is approximately 80g /3oz of vegetables/beans/pulses; 100g/4oz of very small vegetables such as sweetcorn/peas or a plate of salad leaves or a salad sandwich.

A portion of fruit is said to be , an apple/orange/pear etc or two smaller fruits i.e. plum/peaches or 100g/4oz of very small fruits or berries; 45g/1˝oz  of dried fruit, one glass of fruit juice or a fresh fruit smoothie.             

It can been seen from the above that it is not to difficult to reach the daily requirement of five portions of vegetables/ fruit  a day that dieticians recommend
