Fluoride

Fluoride is derived from the element fluorine. Simple fluorides, such as calcium fluoride occur naturally in water, however when water is artificially fluoridated it is made by adding sodium silicofluoride or hydrofluosilicic acid at a rate of 1mg per litre of water i.e. one part per million.

Hydrofluosilicic acid, a by-product of the chemical fertiliser industry is classified as a hazardous waste and it contains lead, mercury and arsenic as well as carcinogens. It is a compound that  is mostly derived  from the cleansing process of phosphate fertiliser plants. It is purchased unrefined by some water authorities that add it  to water supplies as a chemical for water fluoridation.

It could be said that this is an all too convenient  way for the  industry to dispose of this hazardous waste.

According to research done in America and China fluoride is a powerful central nervous system toxin which adversely effects human brain function even in low doses. It also impairs the immune system.

Studies have shown that fluoride may also increase the risk of osteoporosis.

Fluorides are already found in, toothpaste, mouth rinses, fluoridated school milk, foods,  medicines, anaesthetics, fluoride supplements, polluted air and pesticide and herbicide residues.

Objectors say water fluoridation is a form of medication  and consumers should have the right to refuse medication. In the case of water fluoridation consumers have no  choice in the matter. What will they add next, were does it end ?
